3D Fiber Techniques

Have you tried to add 3D elements to your textile work? Where do you start?

You can start with a few of the following techniques. Darts, rosettes and tucks, oh my! Here is a little introduction into these techniques if you dare to try them yourself.

Desert Landscape

I used a couple of the techniques discussed in this post to create the desert relief.

Here are a few techniques you can try:

Dart: A pleated area of fabric that creates a three dimensional shape.

Rosette: a spiral that is rolled to create a voluminous floral-like shape

Tuck: Folded fabric that can create a variety of textures and fullness
