Who Is Alyson?

Alyson Toone-Aguilar is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and educator with a passion for innovation and inclusivity. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she earned her degree in Fashion Design from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2007 before moving to New York City. For a decade, she thrived in the fashion industry, designing apparel for major brands such as Banana Republic and Victoria’s Secret, with a focus on outerwear and textile design. Her work has been worn by people across the country, blending function with artistry.

While living in Brooklyn, Alyson founded Alyson Jon Life, initially as a handmade jewelry brand. In 2014, her love for craftsmanship evolved into teaching jewelry workshops, igniting her passion for empowering others through creativity. This dedication led to the creation of Make It Work in 2020, an education venture that merges art, critical thinking, feminism, and inclusivity.

Now based in Los Angeles, Alyson continues to explore new creative avenues while sharing her home with her family. Her work remains deeply rooted in the belief that creativity is a tool for self-expression, connection, and change.
